Tim Coles writes: It is with great pleasure that I can report that, following major opposition to their plans, GP Builders in conjunction with Charles Wells have withdrawn their appeal to develop the Royal Oak site into 2 large houses. We are now in discussions with Charles Wells about the future of the Oak. Many of you (the room was packed) will have attended a public meeting that we held on the 14th October at which Rachel and Peter Causton presented their plans for purchasing and re-opening the Royal Oak and these were very well received. They will, of course, now be following up on these with Charles Wells. Many thanks to everyone who lodged objections to the appeal and all those who have supported us throughout the campaign. Let's hope that Charles Wells now cooperate with our aim to see the Oak re-open as an establishment that the village can be proud of, an outcome that will be beneficial to the continuing success of our superb village stores and post office. *For any further information please email: tim.coles@softleykitchens.co.uk* |
