Minutes of Meeting

Minutes of meeting for 9th May were agreed and signed as a true record.

1. Village Maintenance

All agreed the Billy is very conscientious and is doing a great job.

The Eden Lane and Turvey Road sign are missing.

The fire hydrant opposite the Baptist Church needs re-bedding, Bedford Fire & Rescue Service to be advised.

Gully outside 46/48 The Causeway needs repairing.

Footpath in The Marsh is overgrown and in bad repair, Cllr. Benson will investigate.

The project for 2005/6 will be the Long Stile footpath, which is too narrow. The steps need to be replaced by a slope. Mr. A Prigmore to be advised.

The entrance to Rectory Close needs drop down kerbs to allow wheelchair access.

The council agreed to buy a petrol mower for the handyman for use in the Baptist Chapel and for use around the village. The expense can be shared by the Baptist Chapel reserve fund and budget for handyman equipment.

B.C.C. – Amey will now be the new single provider for delivering network management on Bedfordshire Highways, replacing Raynesway.

B.C.C. – Grass cutting contribution from 2005/6 is £603.48.

B.C.C. – Consultation on Bedfordshire Emergency Strategy Plan. Cllr. Jenkins will respond.

Mayor Branston to be invited to the November meeting of the Parish Council.

Victim Support – Annual Report 2003-2004.Parish Council agreed to give a donation to the same value as last year.

The Villager Community Minibus – Minutes from General Meeting held April 18th 2005.

B.B.C. – Planning workshops taking place 13th & 14th July. Declined

B.B.C. – Letter explaining the role of the Street Rangers.

B.B.C. – Minutes of Standards Committee held April 11th

Planning

05/01361/FUL – Vine Cottage, 34 High Street, Single storey rear extension. No objections.

05/01491/FUL – Baptist Chapel. Alterations in association with conversion to dwelling. No objections.

05/01118/FUL – Bay Tree Cottage, 10 Bridgend. Installation of no. 6 wooden windows to replace existing unauthorised UPVC. No objections.

05/01265/FUL – Summerfield, 28 The High Street. Erection of garden room and store. No objections.

Playing Fields Report

Cllr. Simpson advised grant for £5,000 has now been received and equipment is being installed at the moment. The bench has also been installed around the tree and the broken toy has been removed.

 

Village Hall Report

Cllr. Tusting advised that the Donkey Derby, in conjunction with other parties raised £1,000.00. The toilets have been finished except for the floor.

General Village Matters

Cllr. Jenkins visited the Chellington Project and it is a beautiful site, Cllr. Tusting advised that the Open Days at Chellington are Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the August bank holiday weekend.

Cllr. Chapman advised that Georgian wired glass is needed for the handyman’s shed to replace the PVC. Cllr. Tusting advised she may have some otherwise Cllr. Benson will buy some.
