Monthly Meeting Monday 11th July 2005 at 19.35hrs

Minutes of Meeting

Minutes of meeting for 20th June were agreed and signed as a true record.

1. Mr Creasey –Emmuas Update

Mr Creasey advises that Block 1, Copper Beech is being refurbished to house twelve companions; this should be ready for the New Year. Block 3, Silver Beeches contains the changing rooms and three teams from the Saturday/ Sunday league will be using the field. The old gym will be transformed into a recycling centre at a total cost of £430k so far £190k has been raised. The over grown grass along the lane has now been cut.

The Admin Block is being decorated and the electrics are being checked with the intention of renting rooms out to other organisations/charities.

Pine Tree house is no longer a part of Emmaus.

Cllr Tusting asked how the companions are getting on, Mr Creasey advised they are working to the best of their ability and dealing with their problems.

Cllr. Davies asked if the companions are moving on, Mr Creasey advised that some have moved on and some aren’t. They are now planning evening activities for the companions.

Cllr. Benson asked if they will have their own football team. Mr Creasey advised that yes possibly when they have twenty nine companions.

The Parish Council have agreed to give the Gang Mower to Emmaus as it there is no use for it in the village.

Mr Creasey advised there is a Fete being held on the 6th August.

2. Zurich Insurance

A breakdown of costs to be obtained and further discussions to take place at the next meeting. The gang mower and mobile sit-on engine to be removed from the policy.

3. Notice Boards

Cllr. Chapman and Cllr. Benson advised that a new open notice board on poles is required for the Baptist Chapel. There is £1,500.00 allocated in the budget for this. They will find out some prices and discuss again at a later date.

4. Village Maintenance

Celia Sellers is dealing with the gully which is need of repair.

Hyrant reported to Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue

The replacement signs will take 6/8 weeks.

There are two potholes on the footpath in Beeby Way leading to the Playing Fields.

A parishioner advised that a lime tree and a yew tree in the village green are over grown. Cllr. Tusting will look into the matter. Both benches in the Village Green need sanding down.

Cllr. Tusting advised that some repairs have been done to the bridge but a lot still to be done. A letter to be written to find out when the hand rail will be replaced.

Cllr. Benson is meeting the stone mason Mr Stanting next Monday.

School Governor’s Report

Cllr. Tusting advised that she is no longer the LEA representative as all appointments have been suspended.

Rural Affairs Committee – Minutes for meeting held 28th June 2005

Bedfordshire Police Authority – Invitation to attend a presentation on Monday 18th July at the Police Headquarters, Kempston. Declined.

Harrold Odell County Park – Request for return of the User Survey of the Park. Cllr. Benson will pass onto to Cllr. Jenkins.

Five cheques prepared for signature, Miss G Forde £218.50 for salary, Miss G Forde £28.44 for expenses, Mr Crammen £187.50 for handyman duties, Village Hall £54.00 hire charge, McAlpine £48.96 street light maintenance,

Current Account balance £195.22 and Capital Reserve Account balance £19557.54.

Planning

05/01265/FUL – Summerfield, 28 The High Street. Erection of garden room and store. Planning permission granted.

05/01075/FUL – Fishers Farm, Eden’s Lane. Changed of use and alterations to barn to form a dwelling. Planning permission refused.

Playing Fields Report

Cllr. Simpson advised that the new equipment is being well used. There is a free Treasure Hunt for the children next Tuesday. The cargo net needs to be replaced. Sarah Tusting has agreed to be the new Treasurer of the PFA. The handyman has cut trees back to create a new entrance and the old entrance will be blocked off. Also, Mr Ian Craig, West End Farms, Stagston has donated some fence posts.

 

Village Hall Report

None.

General Village Matters

Cllr. Tusting advised that the grass in the Baptist Chapel will need cutting soon. The Parish Council have now agreed to deal with this themselves and a letter is to be written to Kleanwell advising that their service is no longer required.
