July & August 2003 MeetingsCarlton Website: www.carltonwithchellington.co.uk is up and running and Parish Councillor David Jenkins will welcome input from parishioners. His email address is:-admin@carltonwithchellington.co.uk
Carlton and Chellington Village Appraisal: The results of a survey undertaken in 1992-3. There are still copies of this interesting document available. If any newcomers to the parish would like a copy, please will they contact Mrs. Iris Allsopp. 2 Horse Chestnut Trees, The Moor: Following the article in The Bridge, 10 parishioners responded to say that the trees should be kept and pollarded and 3 considered that the trees should be removed. We have written to the County Council Arboricultural Officer requesting that the trees in question remain and are pollarded. Rural Housing Trust: A meeting held in June 2003 with the Rt. Hon. Alistair Burt, MP. The Rural Housing Trust and Parish Councils was attended by the Chair and in July 2003, Mrs. Jane Tusting reported on the same. New literature on the subject of ‘affordable’ housing in villages is being circulated to councillors, to be further discussed at the September Parish Council meeting. H.O.C.P Liaison Forum: Mr. David Jenkins attended the meeting in June 2003, when Ivel and Ouse Countryside Project presented their comprehensive action plan. The date of the next Liaison Forum meeting is 11th December, 2003. The Stone Barn on the Playing Field: The Parish Council is in discussion with the tenant following concerns about the state of the yard, security for the tenant and problems with water seepage from The Gannick. Street Lights: The old lighting column in School Lane has now been replaced and a new light installed by the telephone booth in Bridgend. Power Cuts: E.D.F. Energi have been requested to provide an explanation into the reasons for the lengthy cuts experienced by the village at the end of July 2003. Harrold Community Liaison Forum: Mr. David Jenkins attended the August 2003 August Forum. Some of the available money is being used to purchase a portable speed monitor which will be accessible to all villages participating in the Forum. This will also be discussed at the September 2003 Parish Council Meeting. The new Parish Clerk will be introduced in the next edition of ‘The Bridge’. Personally, I am extremely disappointed that not one person from the parish of Carlton and Chellington applied for the position. Iris Allsopp Parish Clerk
