Children’s Show Schedule

There is a small cash prize for classes 82 to 90

Children Classes – aged 6 and under

82.           An item of handicraft – max size 24 x 24 inches

83.           A picture (paints or crayons) showing your favourite animals (A4 sized paper)

84.           Miniature beach scene made in a swiss roll tin (or another tine with the same dimensions) max size 12 x 18 inches

85.           3 decorated (bought) biscuits.

Children’s Classes – aged 7 to 12

86.           An item of handicraft – max size 24 x 24 inches.

87.           A poster (A4 sized) encouraging people to come to the show.

88.           Miniature beach scene made in a swiss roll tine (or another tine with the same dimensions) – max size 12 x 18 inches.

89.           Melting Moments – made to recipe provided below.

Special Junior Class (age 16 and under)

90.           A scarecrow (max height 1.5m) mounted on a stick (broom handle or similar)

Class 89

 

Melting Moments

Ingredients

5oz (125g) self raising flour.

3oz (75g) castor sugar

4 oz (100g) fat (butter or margarine as preferred)

1 small egg (or ½ a large one)

Teaspoon vanilla essence

Rolled oats.

Glacé cherries.

 

Method

Cream together the sugar and fat and; then beat in the egg and vanilla essence. Add the flour and stir thoroughly. With wet hands form the mixture into balls the size of walnuts and coat them with the oats.

Place them on a greased baking sheet and flatten them slightly. Bake at 180ºC (350ºF, Gas 4) for 15 - 20 minutes until lightly browned. While still warm press a halved glacé cherry on to each melting moment.
