Monthly Meeting Wednesday 27th April 2005 at 19.30hrs

2.  Apologies for Absence

None.

3.  Disclosure of Interest

  • Cllr. Simpson declared interest in planning application 05/00697/FUL Carlton Playing Fields.

4.  Minutes of Meeting

  • Minutes of meeting for 14th March were agreed and signed as a true record.

5.  Correspondence

  • Corinthian Stone – Company specializing in restoration of stone and flint walls etc. Cllrs. Benson & Chapman will set out a spec before contacting Corinthian Stone.
  • B.B.C. - £2,000.00 grant awarded by the Rural Affairs Committee for three bunk beds for Chellington Residential Centre.
  • B.C.C. – The council will be carrying out the cutting of rural grass during April / May.
  • P3 – List of events taking place in the coming year, will be posted on the Carlton & Chellington website.
  • B.C.C. – Proposed temporary Road closure High Street, Harrold for one week starting Monday 30th May between 7.30 -18.00
  • BRCC –Invitation to enter Calor’s Bedfordshire Village of the Year 2005. Declined.
  • Bedford Tourist Information Centre – A request to see if a copy of ‘What’s On’ is still required. Declined.
  • B.B.C. – Bedford Town Centre Area Action Plan, inviting comments from the Parish Council as this will affect the future prosperity of the town. Cllr. Benson will scan and distribute.
  • B.B.C. – Introduction letter from Heidi Weight the new Community Partnership Officer. Invitation to be extended to attend the June meeting.
  • B.B.C. – Air Quality Management Areas for nitrogen dioxide, copy to be emailed to all councillors. Link will be put onto the website by Cllr. Jenkins.

6.  Financial Report

  • Seven cheques prepared for signature, Miss G Forde £218.50 for salary, Miss G Forde £271.45(This includes cost of shed for handyman of £238.00) for expenses, Mr Crammen £165.00 for handyman duties, Mr Planterose £12.96 for repairs to the bus shelter, Alfred McAlpine £195.84 for street light maintenance, D Goggins £24.00 for distributing AGM leaflets, Glasdon £455.38 for new seat. First half of precept received £6750.00.
  • Current Account balance £2430.58 and Capital Reserve Account balance £19455.65.

7.  Planning

  • 05/00697/FUL Carlton Playing Fields, installation of replacement basketball ring and low level play equipment. No objections.
  • 05/00792/LBC 27 Bridgend, removal of Victorian fireplace to expose inglenook, new floor. No objections.
  • 05/00831/FUL 4 Pavenham Road, single storey front extension. No objections.
  • 05/00458/FUL 17 Rectory Close, Planning permission granted
  • 05/00263/LBC Moorfield, 53 The Moor. Planning permission granted.
  • 05/00141/FUL 25 Rectory Close. Planning permission granted.

  • Letter received from Mrs Mesney advising of proposed planning application for residential properties in the barn area of Victoria Farm.

8.  General Village Matters

  • Cllr. Davies advised there are now hazards markers at the entrance of Turvey Road / School Lane. Alan Trill B.C.C. to be contacted to find out why they have been erected and to get the hazard markers on the High Street / Turvey Road junction to be removed.
  • Cllr. Tusting advised that Mr Bird (Affordable Housing Co.UK) is hopeful of getting permission from B.C.C. to use the allotments for the proposed development.
  • Cllr. Davies advised believed the new light will be on all the time as it has been sited under a tree where it will be dark all the time.

There being no other business meeting closed at 20.00hrs.
